Building environmental assessment methods provide tools for environmental rating and labelling covering topics such as energy, transportation, water, materials,… Although these methodologies are developed for office, education or commercial buildings recent developments provide opportunities to evaluate any type of building for environmental valuation. BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) was first created in 1990 and is the most well established and widely used method. More than 160.000 building has been evaluated and more than 700.000 projects have been registered.

BREEAM certificate in Turkey can be retrieved using  Europe 2009 version of BREEAM which was developed by BRE in 2008 with contents  of EN norms and international standards.
